Notes: I was unsure if I should translate Sweden and Norway's manner of talking--When it's translated, I think it takes away the... serious atmosphere, and in this comic's case, I thought that atmosphere was very important. I spent a lot of time trying to put lots of apostrophes in and it just didn't feel right, so I left it the way it was.

ReplyDeleteAs for the translation of Norway's speech. quietnorth over at LJ did a very good job with it, I think, and mainly gave him "'nd" instead of "and" which never hurt the atmosphere, only indicated that he doesn't speak standard.
On the other hand, since they probably speak Danish/Swedish in this strip anyway (if you don't look at the Japanese), the translation of something like accents seems a bit useless oO

yeah! I need to get back to cheerful comics! then some sad. I have a request for a titanic hetalia fancomic, so hopefully the author says yes. (her last update was in August..) Also, I do keep contact with them to give them the link, I'll tell them next time I do come in contact with them!

ReplyDeleteI honestly don't know which part tore me apart the most, Little Iceland crying, the flashbacks while Su and Den are fighting, or Denmark crying after Sweden is gone...All three really made me wanna cry!
But who was that at the end? Norway?
I think it is Iceland because: one, he has purple eyes not blue like Norway's, and two, this is showing the desolve of the Kelmar Union meaning that Iceland would become independant hence he would grow up.
